Given:

A rectangular grassy lawn is 18 m by 12 it has a gravel path 1.5 m wide all around in on the outside

To Find:

what is the area of the path

Solution:

Length of lawn = 18 m

Breadth of lawn = 12 m

it has a gravel path 1.5 m wide all around in on the outside

Outer length = 18+1.5+1.5=21 m

Outer breadth = 12+1.5+1.5=15 m

Area of path = Outer area – Inner area

Area of path = (21 \times 15)-(18 \times 12)

Area of path = 99 sq.m.

Hence the area of path is 99 sq.m.
