Length of metal plate :- 24 cm

Breadth of metal plate :- 16 cm

Area of metal plate :- L × B

=> 24 × 16

=> 384 cm²

Side of square :- 4 cm

Area of square = (Side)²

=> (4)²

=> 16 cm²

Number of squares that can be cut

=> \dfrac{Area\:of\:Metal\:Plate}{Area\:of\:Square}

=> \dfrac{384\:cm²}{16\:cm²}

=> \dfrac{\cancel{384\:cm²}}{\cancel{16\:cm²}}

=> 24 Squares

Before, finding the answer. Let's find out on how we can find the answer.

  • First, we have to find the Area of Rectangle by using the formula of :

\boxed{\sf Area \: of \: Rectangle  = l \times b}

  • Next, we have to find the Area of Square by using the formula of :

\boxed{\sf Area \: of \: Square = s \times s}

  • Now, we have to divide the Area of Rectangle by the Area of Square.

Given :

  • Measures of Rectangular Plate = 24 cm and 16 cm
  • Measure of Square = 4 cm

To find :

  • how many squares will be cut.

Solution :

Area of Rectangle = l × b

                              = 24 × 16

                              = 384 cm²

Area of Square = s × s

                          = 4 × 4

                          = 16 cm²

No of Squares = \sf \dfrac{Area \: of \: Rectangular \: Plate}{Area \: of \:Square}

                        = \sf \dfrac{384}{16}

                        = 24

∴ 24 squares can be cut from the Rectangle.
