Answer: There are 3000 tiles required.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Length of swimming pool = 30 m

Breadth of swimming pool = 20 m

Height of swimming pool = 1.5 m

Surface area of swimming pool is given by

2(bh+lh)+lb\\\\=2(20\times 1.5+30\times 1.5)+30\times 20\\\\=2\times 75+600\\\\=150+600\\\\=750\ m^2

Edge of each tile = 50 cm by 50 cm =0.5 m by 0.5 m

So, Area of each tile is given by

0.5\times 0.5\\\\=0.25\ m^2

So, Number of tiles that are required is given by

\frac{\text{ Area of swimming pool}}{\text{ Area of each tile}}\\\\=\frac{750}{0.25}\\\\=3000

Hence, there are 3000 tiles required.
