Define x:

let the original price of the apples be x

Find the number of apples bought:

Number of apples bought = 240/x kg

Find the price after reduction:

15% reduction = 0.15x

Price after reduction = x - 0.15x = 0.85x

Find the number of apples bought:

Number of apples bought = 240/0.85x kg

Solve x:

The difference is 2 kg

240/0.85x -  240/x = 2

Multiply by 0.85x through

240 - 204 = 1.7x

Combine like terms

1.7x = 36

Divide both sides  by 1.7

x = Rs 21.18

Find the new price:

New Price = 0.85 x 21.18 = Rs 18

Answer: The price price is Rs18
