Given:

The selling price=Rs.6,400

Profit=25%

To find:

The price paid by the retailer for the microwave

Solution:

The price paid by the retailer for the microwave is Rs.5,120.

Let the cost price be X.

The amount of profit=25% of the cost price

=25% of X

=25X/100

We know that selling price=cost price+profit

So, 6400=X+25X/100

6400=125X/100

6400=25X/20

6400=5X/4

6400×4/5=X

5120=X

Therefore, the cost price of the microwave is Rs.5,120.
