Answer:

The angular momentum of the ring is 0.0628 kgm²/s

Explanation:

Given:

Mass of the ring(m) = 500g = 0.5 kg

Diameter of the ring = 20 cm = 0.2 m

Radius of the ring(r)  = 0.2/2 m = 0.1 m

Speed of the ring(v) = 120 rev/min = 120/60 rev/sec = 2 rev/sec

To find:

Angular momentum of the ring

Solution:

The relation between angular momentum and moment of inertia is given by

L = Iω   , Where I is the moment of inertia of the ring and ω is the angular speed

Moment of inertia of ring  = mr^2

Angular speed = 2πv

∴L = mr^2 × 2πv = 0.5×(0.1)² ×2×3.14×2

∴L = 0.0628 kgm²/s

∴The angular momentum of the ring is 0.0628 kgm²/s
