upward distance covered by the rocket in first 35s
= ut = 20×35=700m
when the fuel supply cut off
=20m/s g= -10mls2 v =0 therefore
v2 - u2 = 2gs
s 400/20 = 20m
total height achieved = 700 + 20 = 720m ans.
t = v-u/g = 0-20/ -10 = 2s
for downward motion of the rocket u = 0, s= - 720 m, g = -10 m/s2
s = ut + 1/2× gt2
= t =
t =12 s
total time taken = 35 + 2 + 12
= 49s
