A room 12m by 10m has a carpet laid in the centre leaving 1m space all around. What is the area of the carpet and the uncovered area.

Area of carpet=(12×10)m=120 metre square
Area of uncovered area=(12-2)×(10-2)=(10×8)metre=80 metre square
Area of uncovered area=(12-2)×(10-2)=(10×8)metre=80 metre square
