When ropes of specific L and M hangs unreservedly from the roof if the time taken by a transverse wave to make a trip from the base to the highest point of the Rope is T at that point time to cover first half length is as follows:

T = sqrt(4L/g)

As in case of half length = L/2

T= T/ sqrt (2)

sqrt means square root
