Given that, density of water = 1 gm cm-3
Mass of the object =600gm
Volume=500cm3
Density=Mass/Volume
=600/500
=1.2 gm cm-3
Therefore, The sealed object will sink as the density of water is less than density of can.

Given that,

Mass of sealed, m = 600 g

Volume, V=500\ cm^3

To find,

Will this sealed can float or sink in water?

Solution,

Density of an object is given by mass per unit volume. It is given by :

d=\dfrac{m}{V}\\\\d=\dfrac{600\ g}{500\ cm^3}\\\\d=1.2\ g/cm^3

If the density of an object is more than water it will sink while in other case it will float. The density of water is 1\ g/cm^3.

It is clear that the density of sealed can is more than that of water, then it will sink.
