a shopkeeper bought two fan for rupees 3120.he sold one of them at profit of 36 percent and other at loss of 15 percent. He found that each fan was sold for the same price.find the cost price of each fan.

Here is your answer :

This is an interesting question but little tricky.

SP is the selling price is the same
Let CP of 1 fan be x then CP of other is ( 3120-x )
When loss is 15 % then SP is 85x/ 100= 0.85x
When gain is 36% then SP is 1.36 ( 3120-x )

Both are same
0.85x = 1.36 ( 3120-x )
0.85x = 4232.20 - 1.36x
2.21x = 4232.2
x = 1920 cost of fan making 15% loss and 3120-1920= 1200 cost of table making 36% profit

Therefore the CP of each fan = ₹ 1920 and ₹ 1200.
