Air pollution is that phenomenon where harmful or excessive quantities of substances like various poisonous gases, particles, and biological molecules are introduced into Earth's atmosphere which causes a detoriation in the quality of the air around it. On the other hand, water pollution is the addition of harmful chemicals, biological waste on the water of local water bodies or that of the sea which results in detoriation in the quality of the water which also result it harmful for use and drink.
The mixing of air and water with harmful contaminants which alter the original characteristics of the same is considered to be air and water pollution.
Air pollution occurs due to a number of reasons like emission of smokes from vehicles, factories, burning of fossil fuels, smell of garbage etc.
Water pollution occurs by throwing harmful wastes in to the water, mixing of industrial effluents into river water, bathing, washing utensils, washing clothes in the river water, mixing of sewage water into the river water and so on.
