given that a shopkeeper sells an article for Rs 21384 including 10 % tax.
________________________
let the actual price of article be ' Rs x '

price of article including 10 % tax

=Rs 21384

x + 10 % of x = 21384

x + 10 / 100 x = 21384

x + 0.1 x = 21384

x ( 1 + 0.1 ) = 21 384

1 .1 x = 21 384 => x = Rs 19440

x = actual price = Rs 19440

given that actual rate of tax is 8 % ,

price of article including 8 % tax

= x + 8 % of x

= 19440 + 8 % of 19440

= 19440 + 0.08 × 19440

= 19440 + 1555.5 = Rs 20995.2

extra profit made by the dealer

=Rs 21384 - Rs 20995.2 = Rs 388.8
