(a) Solar cells are used to provide the electric current to charge the batteries of a car driven by an electric motor. Describe the energy changes which take place.
(b) What differences would you expect in the charging of car batteries (i) in bright sunlight (ii) on a cloudy day (iii) at night?

Explanation:

a) Solar cell converts the light energy into electric energy to charge the batteries of a car then electric energy is converted into mechanical energy by the motor.

(b) During bright sunlight solar cell produces maximum electricity as more sunlight falls on it but in case of cloudy day there will be very small amount of electric current produced as small amount of light energy is in the atmosphere and at night there will be no electric current as no light energy is in the atmosphere.
