Given:

✰ A solid cuboid has dimensions 48 cm x 24 cm x 15 cm

✰ It is melted and recast into small cubes with an edge equal to 4 cm in length.

To find:

✠ How many cubes are made? (Assuming that there is no wastage in the process).

Solution:

Let's understand the concept first! First we will find the volume of cuboid by using formula as we are already provided with it's dimensions ( length, breadth, height), then we will find the volume of small cubes which are recasted from a solid cuboid. After that, we will divide the volume of cuboid by the volume of small cubes to get the number of cubes to be made.

Let's find out...♪

Volume of cuboid = l × b × h

Where,

  • l is the length of cuboid.
  • b is the breadth of cuboid.
  • h is the height of cuboid.

➛ Volume of cuboid = 48 × 24 × 15

➛ Volume of cuboid = 1152 × 15

➛ Volume of cuboid = 17280 cm³

Volume of cube =

Where,

  • a is the length of it's each side or edge.

➛ Volume of cube = 4³

➛ Volume of cube = 4 × 4 × 4

Volume of cube = 64 cm³

Now,

➤ The number of cubes to be made = Volume of cuboid/Volume of cube

➤ The number of cubes to be made = 17280/64

➤ The number of cubes to be made = 270

The number of cubes to be made from a solid cuboid = 270 cubes
