A solid metallic sphere of diameter 28 cm is melted and recast into a number of smaller cones, each of diameters 14/3 cm and height 3cm. find the no of cones so formed.

Diameter of sphere = 28 cm
Then, radius of sphere = 28/2 = 14 cm
volume of the sphere = 4/3πr³
= 4/3*22/7*14*14*14
Volume of sphere = 11498.66 cu cm
Diameter of cone = 14/3 cm
So, radius of cone = 14/3 ÷ 2
radius of cone = 7/3
Volume of the cone = 1/3πr²h
= 1/3*22/7*7/3*7/3*3
Volume of cone = 17.11
Number of cones formed = 11498.66/17.11
= 672 cones
