(a) State two properties of carbon which leads to a very large number of carbon compounds.; (b) Why does micelle formation take place when soaps is added to water? Why are micelle not formed when soap is added to ethanol?(All India - 2011)

Because the hydrophilic end of the soap reacts with water.

Because the properties of ethanol does not let the soap's ionic end to react with water hence micelles.
