a stone is dropped into a 10m deep well. after how many second of dropping the stone the sound of splash would he heard? given g=10m per second square. velocity of sound in air = 340m per second

depth of well=10m

Time required to produce sound by splashing inside well...
use equation of motion-

s = ut +  \frac{1}{2} g {t}^{2}  \\ 10 = 0 +  \frac{1}{2}  \times 10 {t}^{2}  \\ t =  \sqrt{2} sec.
Now time taken by sound to reach our ear will be-

time =  \frac{distance}{speed}  \\  =  \frac{10}{340}  =  \frac{1}{34}  = 0.029s
Total time required to hear splash sound after dropping stone is-

=√2+0.029s

=1.479 seconds.
