A stone is projected vertically up with the velocity of 19.6 m/s.calculate time taken bt the stone to reach maximum height & how long it takes to travel 294m below the point of projection.

Time taken to travel 294 m :

S = ut + 1/2 at^2

294 = 19.6(t) + 1/2 (9.8)(t^2)

60 = 4t + t^2

t^2 + 4t -60 = 0

t(t+10)-4(t+10) =0

(t+10)(t-4) =0

t= 4 sec.
