This question can be easily solved by applying the equation => v^2 = u^2 + 2gh .
Here :-
the body is thrown upward with velocity ' u ' and the ball returns with velocity ' 3u '
• initial velocity = u
• final velocity = 3u
• acceleration due to gravity = g
• Height of the tower = h = ?
=> ( 3u )^2 = u^2 + 2gh
=> 9u^2. = u^2 + 2gh
=> 9u^2 - u^2 = 2gh
=> 8u^2 = 2gh
=> 2gh = 8u^2
=> h = 8u^2 / 2g
=> h = 4u^2 / g
