when the stone reaches its maximum height, its final velocity will be equal to 0.
as v=u-gt=> 0=u-gt => u=gt
so t=u/g.
when it comes down its initial velocity will be 0.
so its final velocity that was u = 0+gt.
so u = gt
t = u/g
so time to go up = time to come down=u/g.
as v=u-gt=> 0=u-gt => u=gt
so t=u/g.
