A string is connected between surface and a block of mass 1 kg which is
pulled by another string by applying force F = 10 N
as shown in figure. (g = 10 m/s)

Answer:

Tension is string 1 is Zero Newton

Tension in string 2 is 10N

Explanation:

A string is connected between surface. The mass of the block is m= 1kg

The force that is applied on the block is F=10N

The block is stationary. So that the tension in the string 2 is equal to the force applied on the block.

From the free body diagram we get the force for the string 1 is F1= mg+T1

and the force for the string 2 is F2=10N

Equating the forces for string 1 and string 2 and we get,

T2=mg+T1

=>10= (10x1)+T1

=>T1=0

∴ Tension is string 1 is Zero Newton

∴ Tension in string 2 is 10N

Answer:

String 1=0N

String 2=10N

Explanation:

Since our system is in equilibrium therefore force acting in block in upward direction (ie=10 given) will be equal to the tension in string 2=10N

So 10-mg-T1=0

T1=0N (since given mass =1kg and g=10m/s^2)

Thank you!

Hope it helps!
