a student has to secure 36% marks to pass in an examination. amit gets 38 mark and fails by 16 marks .find the maximum marks ​

Marks the student secured= 38
Since he failed by 16 marks, so the passing mark would be 38+16=54

It's given that 36% is the passing mark..
Here we don't know the total marks.. Let's assume x be the total marks..
So 36% of x is 54
ie
(36/100)×x=54
36×x=5400
x=5400/36
x=150

So 150 is the maximum marks(or total marks)
