They turn white due to production of ZnCl2.

If you are a CBSE Xth grade student, just write the colour "white" in your exam paper as an answer. The examiners expect you to know the colour of ZnCl2, not the history behind its disappearance into the solution or fizzing of zinc.

The colour of the zinc granules changes into white.

• When we take zinc granules and the dilute hydrochloric acid,as the reactants,they actively react with each other.

• In this reaction,the zinc chloride and hydrogen gas are produced as the products of the chemical reaction.

Zn + HCl ---> ZnCl2 + H2

• Now,zinc chloride is white in colour and that's why we can say that the zinc granules changes into white.
