Deliquescence occurs when the vapour pressure of the solution that is formed is less than the partial pressure of water vapour in the air. All soluble salts will deliquesce if the air is sufficiently humid.

Deliquescence is a phenomenon by virtue of which substance absorbs moisture from air and gets dissolved in it. For this to happen the vapour pressure of water vapours in air should be greater than that of the solution of substance.
