total length = 20cm
breadth of the rectangle = 4cm
therefore let the length of the rectangle be x.
thus, 20cm = 2[l+b]
~ 20 cm= 2[x+4]
~ 20cm = 2x + 8
~ 20cm - 8 =2x
~ 12 cm = 2x
~ 12/2 = x
~ 6cm = x
Therefore length of the rectangle = 6cm
