Answer:

speed= 61.58 km/h

Step-by-step explanation:

distance=speed x time

so...(rearrange the formula)

speed=distance/time

distance= 585km

time= 8+1.5 =9.5

plug into the formula: speed= 585/9.5

therefore speed= 61.58 km/h

The speed of the train is 90 km/h.

Explanation:

Given : A train leaves from New Delhi at 9.00 pm and reaches Jammu on the other day at 5.00am.

i.e. it took 8 hours (3 hours from 9 pm to 12 am and 5 hour from 12am to 5 am) to travel the distance from New Delhi to Jammu .

Time of stoppage = 1.5 hours

Then , the time to cover entire distance without stoppage = 8 -1.5= 6.5 hours

The total distance between the two stations =585km

Now , speed=\dfrac{distance}{time}

=\dfrac{585}{6.5}=90\ km/h

Hence, the speed of the train is 90 km/h.
