ANSWER

A train passes a station platform in 36 seconds and a man standing on the platform in 20 seconds. If the speed of the train is 54 km/hr, what is the length of the platform? m/sec = 15 m/sec. Length of the train = (15 x 20)m = 300 m.

Answer:

The length of the platform in m is 325m, when the speed of train is 54 Km/hr and the length of the train was 200m.

Explanation:

The length of the train is 200m.

Let, the length of platform be x.

The speed of train is given as = 54 Km/hr

speed in(m/sec) = 54 × \frac{5}{18}

therefore, the speed of train in m/sec = 15 m/sec

Time taken to cross the platform = 35 sec.

so, distance covered in 35 sec will be: speed × Time taken

Distance = 15 × 35 = 525m

The time taken to cross he platform will be equal to the sum of  length of the train and the length of the platform divided by the speed of the Train to cross the platform.

Total distance = Length of train + length of platform

525m = 200 m + x

525 - 200 = x

325m =x

Thus, the length of the platform will be 325m.
