Area of trapezium = 1/2 × sum of || sides×height
34 = 1/2 × ( 6+6) × height
34 = 1/2 × 12 × height
34 = 6 × height
height = 34/6
height = 5.666.....
height = 5.67 cm

✯Question✯

  • A trapezium whose parallel sides are 6cm and 11cm has an area of 34cm². Find the altitude of the trapezium?

✬Given✬

  • Parallel sides ( P1 ) = 6cm
  • Parallel sides ( P2 ) = 11cm
  • Area of trapezium = 34cm²

✭To find✭

  • Altitude of the trapezium

✮Solution✮

  • ½ ( P1 + P2 ) × height = 34
  • ½ ( 6 + 11 ) × height= 34
  • ½ ( 17 ) × height= 34
  • ¹⁷⁄₂ × height = 34
  • height = 34 × 2 ÷ 17
  • height = ⁶⁸⁄₁₇
  • height = 4

✰The altitude of the trapezium is 4cm✰
