Given : A tricycle is sold at profit of 15% had it been sold for 40 rupees more the profit would have been 25%

To Find :   cost price

Solution:

Let say Cost Price = Rs C

Profit 15 % = (15/100)C = 0.15C

SP = C + 0.15C  = 1.15C

Profit 25 % = (25/100)C = 0.25C

SP = C + 0.25C  = 1.25C

1.15C + 40 = 1.25C

=> 0.1C = 40

=> C = 400

Cost Price = Rs 400
