18

EXPLANATION.

Let the digit at tens place be = y

Let the digit at unit place be = 2x

=> 2x = y ........ (1)

A two digit number exceeds the sum of

the digit of the number by 18.

=> Let the number be = 10x + y

=> 10x + y = x + y + 18

=> 9x = 18

=> x = 2

Put the value of x = 2 in equation (1)

=> 2 X 2 = y

=> y = 4

Therefore,

original number = 10x + y = 10(2) + 4 = 24.
