Given : A vertical stick 30 cm long cast a shadow 20cm long on ground at same time a tower cast a shadow 40m long on ground .

We assume that both stick and tower are standing vertical to the ground making right angle.

Then, the triangle made by them must be similar.

Also,  similar triangles have proportional side-lengths.

Let x be the height of the tower , then  we have the following equation :-

\dfrac{\text{Height of tower}}{\text{Shadow made by tower}}=\dfrac{\text{Height of stick}}{\text{Shadow made by stick}}\\\\\Rightarrow\ \dfrac{x}{40}=\dfrac{30}{20}\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=\dfrac{30\times40}{20}=60

Hence, the height of tower = 60 m
