Given :

A wall clock chimes the number of times at 8 o'clock = 8 times

The number of intervals in 8 beats = 7 intervals

To Find :

Time taken by 11 chimes at 11 o'clock

Solution:

There are 7 intervals = 8 seconds

time of 1 interval = \frac{8}{7} seconds

The number of intervals in 11 chimes = 10 intervals

Time would be required for 10 intervals = \frac{8}{7}\times 10

                                                                  = 11.4285 ≈ 11.43 seconds

To listen 11 chimes at 11 o'clock 11.43 seconds will be required by person X.
