Pipe a=18litres/min
Pipe b=6litres/min

In 3 hrs, water in=18 ×60×3=3240litres.

We multiply by 60 to convert the 3 hrs to minutes since the rate is in litres per minute.

Half the tank=10000litres

Remaining litres=10000-3240=6760litrs

In one minute the two taps let in 18+6=24 litres

Time to fill 6760 litres=6760/24=281.67minutes

Converting into hrs we have:
4hrs 41 minutes 40 seconds.
