Explanation:

a)When a combination of methane and chlorine is exposed to sunlight ,the product is formed is chloro methane and the hydrogen present  in methane can be replaced by chlorine atoms.Hence substitution reaction occurs.

CH_{4} +Cl_{2} -> CH_{3} Cl+ HCl

b)The process of obtaining a saturated compounds by exposing hydrogen (H) to a unsaturated hydrocarbon during the presence of catalyst is known as Hydrogenation.

Eg: Vegetable oils are hydrogenated and results in the formation of vanaspati ghee

c)Soaps have relatively weak cleansing action and are biodegradable whereas detergents have a strong cleansing action and non biodegradable.
