The sum of these two values should be around or equal to 8 as atoms are more stable when their outermost shell is filled with 8 electrons.
in this case 7+1 = 8 so the answer will be Y and Z.
When solving a similar type of question if you don't get the sum as 8 but get 7 or 6 then also it's fine because the atoms can combine in the way XY2 (for eg when the values are X :- 2,6 and Y:- 2,1) but 8 is more appropriate. Not this question though.
