A wire 5 m above the ground carries a current of 50 A
from south to north. Find the direction and magnitude of
the magnetic field on ground directly below the cable.​

Current = 50 A

We need to calculate the magnetic field

Using formula of magnetic field

B = \dfrac{\mu I}{2\pi d}

Where, I = current

d = distance

Put the value into the formula

B=\dfrac{4\pi\times10^{-7}\times50}{2\pi\times5}

B=0.000002\ T

B=2.0\times10^{-6}\ T

Hence, The magnetic field is 2.0\times10^{-6}\ T and the direction of magnetic field is east ward.
