When cut into 5 pieces, resistance of each part is R/5.

So, equivalent resistance of the 5 pieces when connected in parallel is, 1/R1 = 5/R + 5/R + 5/R + 5/R + 5/R

=> R1 = R/25

So, required ratio is, R : R1 = 25 : 1
