Let the no. of eggs in the beginning be x
No. of defective eggs= 4% of x
=4/100×x
=x/25
Remaining= x-x/25
=24x/25
Now,
75% of the remaining eggs= 75% of 24x/25
= 75/100×24x/25
=72x/100
Now, as per ques,
24x/25-72x/100=96
96x/100-72x/100=96
24x/100=96
x=9600/24
x=400
