the most widely speard and important soil. infact the entire northern plains are made of alluvial soil. these have been deposited by three important Himalayan river system- the indus, the ganga and the Brahmaputra. alluvial soul is also found in eastern costal plains particularly in the deltas of the mahandi, the godavari , the krishna and the kavari rivers. the alluvial soil consists of various proportion of sand , silt and clay. apart from the size of thier grains or components soil are also described on the basis of their age. alluvial soil can be classified as old alluvial that is bangar and new alluvial that is khadar . alluvial soil as a whole are very fertile. ideal for the growth of sugarcane, paddy , wheat and other cereal and pulse crops .
