Find the inner volume:

Volume = Length x breadth x height

Volume = 6 x 2 x 1 = 12 cm³

Find the outer volume:

Length = 6 + 2 + 2 = 10 cm

Breadth = 2 + 2 + 2 = 6 cm

Height = 1 + 2 + 2 = 5 cm

Volume = 10 x 6 x 5 = 300 cm³

Find the volume of the wood:

Volume of the wood = 300 - 12 = 288 cm³

Answer: The volume of the wood in the box is 288 cm³
