vannajayyay: there are four terms in this problem, what method do you think you should use to factor it? I would use 'factor by grouping.'

Hi @Shubhangi

ab² -bc² - ab +c²

= ab² - ab - bc² + c²

= ab ( b - 1 ) - c² ( b - 1 )

= ( ab - c² ) ( b - 1 )

ab {}^{2} - bc {}^{2} - ab + c {}^{2} \\ \\ = ab {}^{2} - ab - bc {}^{2} + c {}^{2} \\ \\ = ab(b - 1) - c {}^{2} (b - 1) \\ \\ = (b - 1)(ab - c {}^{2} )
