CD = 3 cm AB and CD are common tangents to two circles which intersect each other at C and AB = 6 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

From figure

AB  & CD are tangents

as C lies on AB

Hence CA  & CB are alos tangents

CA & CD are tangents from same point C

hence CA = CD

CB & CD are tangent from same point C

hence CB = CD

AB = AC + CB

=> AB = CD + CD

=> 6 = 2 * CD

=> CD = 3

CD = 3 cm
