Hi ,

It is given that ,

ABCD is a rectangular .

AB = 30 ,

DA = 14 ,

DC = x + y ,

CB = x - y ;

We know that ,

Opposite sides are equal in a rectangle .

AB = DC

x + y = 30 ----( 1 )

AD = BC

x - y = 14 ------( 2 )

Add equations ( 1 ) and ( 2 ) , we get

2x = 44

x = 44/2

x = 22 ,

Put x = 22 in equation ( 1 ) , we get

22 + y = 30

y = 30 - 22

y = 8 ,

Therefore ,

x = 22 ,

y = 8 .

I hope this helps you.

Heya..!!!!

GIVEN that:-

AB = 30
DA = 14
DC = x + y
CB = x - y

We know that:-

In rectangle opposite sides are equal

AB = DC

⇒X + Y = 30--------(1)

AND,

BC = DA

X - Y = 14--------(2)

FROM---(1) AND ---(2)

X + Y = 30
X - Y = 14
——————
2X = 44

⇒x = 44/2

⇒x = 22 put in--(1)

we get,

X + y = 30

⇒22 + y = 30

⇒y = 30 - 22

⇒y = 8 , x = 22

Verification:

X + y = 30

⇒22 + 8 = 30

⇒30 = 30

X - y = 14

⇒22 - 8 = 14

⇒14 = 14

HOPE it's help you
