To find: Length of XY

Construction : Join BD intersecting XY at E.

In ΔABD, X is the midpoint of AD parallel to AB and intersecting at G.

therefore E is the midpoint of bd. By midpoint theorem XE is half of AB.

XE = 7.5 cm

Similarly in ΔBCD, E and Y will be Midpoints of BD and BC.

Therefore, EY will be half of CD

EY = 5 cm

XY = XE + EY

= 7.5 + 5

= 12.5 cm
