Absorption of water in pants takes place through root hair. It involves two pathway i) symplastic pathway

              ii) apoplastic pathway

sympalstic pathway:

its is a continuous pathway in which water is absorbed by the root hair and through plasmodesmatal connections mpves through epidermis cortex and reaches xylem.

apoplastic pathway:

its is a discontinous pathway in whch water is absorded by the root hair ans the water moves through extracellular spaces but after crossing cortex is obstructed by casparian strips.
