Social diversity

Explanation:

Democracy is the form of government that is chosen by the people. It aims at establishing equality, liberty and fair representation to all people of the nation without any discrimination based on either their caste, creed, colour, race, religion, language or place of residence. India is the biggest democracy in the world and it is a secular country. Discriminating a person based on caste, class or gender in India is punishable by law. We enjoy unity despite our diversity and different communities live harmoniously despite their differences. Belgium is another example of democracy accommodating social diversity where the rulers acknowledged the people of major and minor communities and gave them all equal rights and participation in the country. Equality also means no discrimination against women. Discrimination and gender bias is happening all over the world. Democracy aims to ensure equality of gender too. This principle of gender equality is enshrined in the Indian Constitution in its Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties and Directive Principles.
