Answer: Yes, this is the type of governance that is followed in India.

Explanation: The Prime Minister has more authority as he is the elected representative of the people of India. The procedure followed in making a person the PM of India is, the normal people elect their representatives, known as the MP ( Member of Parliament ).

It is these members of parliament who then elect their leader in the house, who is then formally known as the Prime Minister.

The President however is a nominated candidate by the sitting house and has access to very less powers compared to the PM, he is given the charge of the armed forces and some other powers to execute.

1. The President being the nominal head whereas the Prime Minister being the real executive as laid down by the Indian System of Parliament is solely dependent upon the way they are elected.

The Prime Ministerial Candidature is chosen by the people of India being the leader of the party who has gained the majority in a general election conducted throughout the country. And this is the reason it represents the people of India on a larger aspects and thus is the real executive or the leader for administration.

2. As being the Prime Minister, the formation of Cabinet is the prior most thing to be done in order to serve and coordinate between all the ministries in the nation serving for the functioning of the nation via different departments and heads.

Prime Minister as chooses the Cabinet minister, hence is responsible for their co-ordinative working as he serves as the working link between the nominal executive and ministry, and also presides all the meetings of the same.
