The Journey across the desert
“The Journey across the desert” talks about the girl whose name is Robyn. She wanted to across the central desert to the western coast of Australia that has 2,800km in distance. Before she started her journey, she had spent many months for preparation. Robyn’s hometown is Adelaide. At first, she left her hometown for Alice Spring with her dog by train. When she arrived at Alice Springs she left only six dollars in her pocket. She wanted to walk across the central desert of Australia from Alice Springs to the west coast, with the help of camels. She hoped to find some wild camel in Alice Springs and train them to carry her supplies on that long journey.
An account of my journey across The Great Indian desert.
- Once I got the opportunity to visit the Great Indian desert. No vehicle could take us through the desert, we had to go on a camel ride. In the beginning, it was very uncomfortable but then we got conditioned. We started the ride by evening because the camel-man warned us that during the day the dust storm could be harmful.
- We filled our bottle with water as one could not expect to get any water for the next six hours. From my own experience, I can tell you how hot the deserts are. You could never imagine until you visit once. The endless sea of sand and sand dunes could be seen. There were very few thorny bushes scattered unevenly. Camels are a common sight here. But only a few birds can adapt to the environment here.
- A few settlements could be seen around an oasis. Life is not so easy here. Water is very scarce and so is greenery.
- Gusting of hot wind could be heard as you pass through the desert. We can hear the jingling of bells around the neck of camels. Thank goodness, the weather was fine and the night seemed really beautiful. Nothing unpleasant happened on the way and finally reached the village.
