Gastric juice consists of mucus,HCl,and proenzyme peptides.Mucus protects the wall of stomach from high pH of HCl,HCl kills all the microbes getting inside with food ,it also activates enzyme peptidase in order to digest proteins. Enzyme peptides is responsible for protein digestion.
